BIOSAN - bactericidal hygiene coatings
Biosan hygiene coatings for walls, ceilings and floors afford
simple and safe protection against bacteria. They provide seamless, easy to
clean surfaces and high efficacy through incorporation of anti-bacterial
technology. Biosan is completely safe in use.
Introduction
Biosan hygiene coatings when used in conjunction with standard hygiene
procedures give added security against bacteria.
They provide a high quality, seamless surface that is easy to clean and very
durable. Biosan is provided with second generation anti-bacterial carrier
technology Bactron™ to ensure its antibacterial efficacy during the normal
service life of the coating.
Applications
Biosan has particular significance for application in hospitals and other health
care facilities, pharmaceutical industry facilities, food processing facilities
such as dairies, kitchens, breweries and abattoirs, leisure centres and schools.
Authority Biosan is registered in the UK with the HSE and NPIS and deemed to be
BPD product type 2. This places it in the same category as most common
detergents and cleaning materials.
The active ingredient of Bactron™ is not classified as harmful to humans but is
a very effective agent against bacteria. It is widely used in toothpastes and
disinfectant soaps. The active ingredient is approved for transient food contact
in the USA and EU.
DESCRIPTION
Bactron™ surrounds and partly penetrates the resin and pigments of the Biosan
coating. Bactron's active ingredient kills most types of bacteria by a variety
of different mechanisms including the ability to penetrate cell walls thus
inhibiting growth and reproduction. Biosan coatings are supplied as the
following 4 low odour products:
Biosan Aqua is a single pack, water-based acrylic coating ideal for walls
and ceilings in low wear areas. It has excellent flow and levelling properties
with high coverage.
Biosan Aqua Plus is a 2 pack, solvent-free coating designed for walls and
ceilings where high abrasion resistance is required. It is easy to clean with
excellent opacity.
Biosan Ultra is a 2 pack, solvent-free floor coating where high abrasion
resistance is required. It is easy to clean with excellent opacity.
Biosan Sealant is an acrylic, solvent-free, elastomeric gap filler that
is waterproof and alkali resistant. It is used for sealing, jointing, filling,
fixing and gluing with good adhesion properties on a variety of substrates
including concrete, wood and tiles.
